S/S 2012 review. TREND REPORT #1

I suppose that my New Year's resolution to write a blog more often failed, but now I've set an alarm on my phone to remind me to do it every day! So I'm hoping that's going to encourage me to get blogging again!

So, we're here again, back in the Wintery February but still lusting after the Spring and Summer fashions that are being displayed on the catwalks at New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week in a few weeks time. It's enough to make you want to throw your scarf on the ground and pull of your opaque tights, isn't it? Well, not quite. Because despite the bitter cold, we still have something to look forward to when the sun finally shows it face and takes away the grey from our skies.

COLOUR
(Christopher Kane, S/S '11)
While last season was very much about the neutrals, the black, the white, the grey, the brown, this season sees a drastic U turn in the complete opposite direction. We're thinking about reminiscing to Christopher Kane and Jil Sander from perhaps, two or three years ago (demonstrated by models, above); what's ugly, what's in bad taste, what clashes, is in. Except it's a lot more heavy duty than before. We're talking clashing prints, prints that might be considered ugly, coming together in a skirt or delicate trouser suit and making something completely beautiful. Frankly, it's like someone has grabbed the colour blocking trend from last summer and thought: 'screw it, let's go print blocking'. At the time of writing this, I haven't anything to show you from New York Fashion week, which is currently showcasing Alexander Wang and the new sister line to Victoria Beckham, 'Victoria, but I can show you some photos of what to expect from our great British High Street, and a lovely shoot by Agyness Deyn in January's Vogue.

(Topshop Lookbook, SS '12)

Yes, ladies. We're talking insane patterned leggings and shirts to match, with a jacket thrown over the top. We're talking chain print jumpers with floral trousers. We're talking dainty aztec print skirts with a throwback nineties bomber. That's what Spring/Summer is shaping up to be, and, with all the possibilities of combinations, you girls should be very excited indeed.
