My First blog, ever. It needs to be about something substantial...

The man himself...
And so it is. The man in question being no other than Olivier Theyskens, catapulted into the fashion spotlight with the launch of his new range for theory. I, like many others, hav fallen head over heels for this man and his talent, which he so aptly showcased at Nina Ricci from 2006 to 2009.

This is why I feel that Theyskens deserves to be written about in my first blog. No... furthermore, why I feel that his sensational Theory collection deserves this first blog.

Named 'Theyskens Theory' on haute-fashion online stores like net-a-porter, the line boasts sleek trousers, sleek dresses, sleek skirts, sleek shirts.. everything about it is just so... sleek. It's a compliment, believe me, and as I lazily scroll through the online display of his clothing on aforementioned websites, I find myself reminscing on our young genius, Alexander Wang. Theyskens' collection is elegant, it is womanly, and most of all it is flattering. There are no garish appearances of lime green and fuschia that were so prominently displayed on the S/S11 catwalks from Kane, or Jil Sander, just minimalism, where, in an age of more is more, is surprisingly refreshing. It's a mean feat for a man who only left his university in 1998 to start his own label.
It isn't to say that there are no negatives to Theyskens' collection, oh no. There are some pieces, including the Beyo print cotton blouse which reminisce of china dolls, and not in a flattering way. There has never, and will never be a perfect collection. However, Theyskens has proved with his first Theory line that he can do as perfect as perfect fashion will get, and it's so very exciting.
